Marcus grimaced, "I appreciate you respecting their dignity and trying to do the right thing, but you might want to bear in mind that none of them can keep a secret to save themselves." "So if we were to have a little chat, it'll be all over the castle." "Before lunch. It's another reason every …
Sariya smiled encouragingly at them and poked Marcus. "What?" "It would be nice to introduce us." He grumbled but obeyed, presenting Sariya as his 'honoured guest from the far lands'. Sariya knew enough about the world's geography to be amused at her origins being placed in the area of their maps generally tagged with 'here …
A glum face appeared at the Lost and Found counter. "I don't suppose you've had a heart handed in?" "As in a heart heart?" "Yes, I lost it on the train yesterday. This woman got on and smiled at me when she sat down. We both read our books and then, when she got off …
Mav was first with the news, Rory supplying added colour and commentary. "Lady Rosarina is livid! She's the one who sent her father down here to give you a telling off and now he's yelling at her for inappropriate behaviour and being rude to a foreign diplomat." Rory was bubbling, "Of course her tantrum when …
For make no mistake, the forces already encountered at the stone circle were not there for defence, but to drag unwary and unwilling souls through the boundary. He could add, every time the elf returned from the city, there was a companion. And every time, a few weeks later, that companion would return to the inn from that …
Marcus returned to his quarters after an irritating meeting with the royal council, fending off demands, suppositions and inquisitions around his mysterious guest. He and Sariya had decided it was easier for her to stay reasonably secluded for now, and give her a chance to absorb some of the ways and knowledge of his world, …
The dragons accompanied Sariya into the next room, most going high and, to her amusement, remaining completely unnoticed. Mav, on the other hand, moved to drape themselves across Sariya's shoulders and hissed at any of the maids who came too close. Watching the hive of room preparation activity she had apparently generated, Sariya had trouble …
In a large city beyond the Greylinn mountains, a number of years ago, there lived a young man, and yes, that young man was Solvek. He had caught the eye of the city archivist a few years before and had been successfully apprenticed in the library and scriptorium. He had progressed steadily through the ranks …
